Chamber Initiates Core Values
The Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met in several strategic planning sessions in December to set its 2012 business agenda. Its Vision statement has changed and now states that the Chamber “will be the proactive voice and resources for business in a thriving local economy”. Its Mission statement remains the same and it will continue to serve as a “partner in the growth, development and success of our diverse membership”.
The Chamber is a private business-focused and member-driven organization and as such, for the first time in its history, has established Core Values that will guide it in establishing its annual programs, activities, goals and objectives.
After much deliberation, the following Core Values received a unanimous vote from the Board of Directors. The Chamber will:
· Operate with Honesty, Integrity and Trust towards its members and the surrounding communities
· Be Member-Driven, motivated by and focused on the needs, interests and success of its members
· Be Proactive in promoting and representing its member, their interests and expectations
· Be Dedicated to the growth and success of its members and the communities in which they operate
· Respect its members, their viewpoints and interests
One of the Chamber’s over 300 members is small business owner, Lori Boldig, owner of The Gallori Fine Arts, Framing & Gifts in downtown Oconomowoc. She values her membership and feels it is her responsibility to belong to the local Chamber as it is the pulse of the business community. She takes advantage of its many benefits and helps her maintain high visibility, meet potential customers and learn so much about other forms of commerce. “I feel part of something bigger than this store, and energized by membership. I feel that other Chamber members are encouraging and embracing me in this endeavor. I really feel that the Chamber is rooting for me and offering me crucial business perspectives” says Ms. Boldig.
