OHS Players present this landmark Broadway musical. Inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the story centers on two star-crossed teenagers from rival New York Gangs who fall in love during the summer of 1957. Tensions and misunderstandings escalate as the Sharks and the Jets plan one last rumble, a fight that will finally end the battle for control of the streets. Timeless music composed by the late Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, include “Maria,” “Tonight,” “America,” “Somewhere,” “I Feel Pretty,” “Gee, Officer Krupke,” and more.” From the first notes to the final breath, the world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in this dynamic production that is considered one of theatre’s finest accomplishments.
