Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet breathes life into ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ on the OAC stage

November 26, 2018

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin –  Just in time for the holidays, the Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet returns to the OAC, featuring a Charlie Brown Jazz concert. The quartet will perform favorite holiday classics and original versions of songs by famed composer Vince Guaraldi, the man behind the immortal score for “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Featuring pianist and composer Eric Mintel, Nelson Hill on sax and flute, Jack Hegyi on electric and upright bass and Dave Mohn on drums, the world-class virtuoso jazz musicians have been entertaining audiences of all ages with their electrifying jazz for more than 25 years.

“We are so excited to have the opportunity to perform again on the Oconomowoc Arts Center’s stage. The facility is so beautiful and the piano is pretty awesome, too!” said Mintel.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” features well-known Christmas songs and several original pieces, including “Christmas Time Is Here,” “Skating” and the legendary “Linus and Lucy.”

“Charlie Brown Jazz speaks to everyone and is a celebration of the enduring music of Vince Guaraldi. I love seeing all the smiling faces after the concert because we are all connected through this amazing music. The concert will also include original music that I’ve written and holiday favorites with a twist,” added Mintel.

As the musicians perform the music behind ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas,’ a large screen will feature a slideshow of Charles Schultz’s beloved Peanuts comic strip characters, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy and others, as well as memorable scenes from the heart-warming animated TV special.

The Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet performed at the White House in 1998 for President Clinton and again in 2011 for President Obama. The group has also been featured in more than 10 concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, played a special concert at the United Nations and was a featured guest on NPR.

Reserved seating tickets are $36 for adults, $32 for seniors (60+) and college students, $18 for high school students and younger and military personnel with ID. For information, visit www.ericmintelquartet.com.
