Tapestry: Tribute to Carole King will re-create the signature sounds of a Carole King concert on the Oconomowoc Arts Center’s Main Stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6.

Carole King is one of the most successful and revered female singer-songwriters in pop music history.  More than 400 of her compositions have been recorded by over 1000 artists, resulting in 100 hit singles.

It was her 1971 album “Tapestry” that took King to the pinnacle, winning all three of the key Grammy Awards – record, song and album of the year, as well as best female vocalist honors for King. With more than 25 million units sold, “Tapestry” remained the best-selling album by a female artist for a quarter century, and King went on to earn three other platinum and seven gold albums.

Tapestry: Tribute to Carole King will remind the audience of why King is considered “Some Kind of Wonderful” in this amazing live concert featuring such songs as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Natural Woman,” “It’s Too Late,” “So Far Away,” I Feel the Earth Move” and so much more!

“Carole King is unlike anyone else. She is an adored icon. People have been covering her songs for 60 years. It’s a pleasure to play these hits because everyone in the audience knows every single word. The emotional experience is incredible,” explained Jeannie Austin of the band, Tapestry.

During the multi-media performance, Austin and her band, including Ori Huberman on guitar and vocals, Starr Light, harmony vocals, Rick Thibodeau on bass, Tim Battig on keyboard, and Jim Boyle on drums, will tell the story of King through her music and storytelling.

“We are a unified force on stage. Our visuals help tell her story because people listen with their eyes. There’s a lot going on in her songs and it really makes a difference when you get to hear all the elements. Carol King’s songs are in people’s souls and are the backdrop of so many memories,” added Austin.

The audience is invited to stick around after the show for a meet n’ greet with the members of Tapestry in the OAC lobby.
